Doi Num Sub Project Doi Num Sub project was originated in Chiang Rai by groups of community development students under NIDA in the year of 2540. One of the group, had observed that the communities grew a lot of proliferation of herb for their own culinary and medicinal uses. Doi Num Sub project first opened up for the membership in amphur Weingchai, Chiang Rai province and started to encourage those communities to increase their productivities. The operation of the project under the Healthy herbal by Doi Num Sub project at amphur Mae Fah Laung was first supported by the Chiang Rai community development fund under the Ministry of Interior. The project has been starting from the planning process, material modification process and strongly highlight on create the job in the area, build up the confidence to the community that their local wisdom will be consider and research for the best benefit. Not only the distribution channel to be create for their product but also the fair play, royalty and care to one another is the most important. The Objective of The Project The objective of the project operation is to emphasize on development of the community capability, co-operation, self support, utilize the available community capital, manage and turn the crisis to be the opportunity. The community business and normal standard business has different philosophy. The community business aims at sufficiency and enhancement of care and quality of life while the normal business aims at the highest benefit in term of money. Doi Num Sub means the area that always absorbs the water. With the rich soil and plenty of ground water that gather into brooks and further grow into rivers which keep the land fertile. This lead to slow but steady mainstream business to the community. Doi Num Sub products brand emphasize on the Thai herbal product and traditional medical cure and treatment besides creates the community income from the herb they plant, but also expand the opportunity to other group as well, such as cotton hand woven group.The sauna tent, one of Doi Num Sub products use the material which is cotton fabric from the locally group which bring more income to their productivity and community. National Products Doi Num Sub products was awarded for 5 stars Otop Product Champion in 2546 and Thailand Brand Name in the same year. Presently, Doi Num Sub also exports the herbal products to many countries around the world and the latest award received from the Department of Export is "The Prime Minister Award of Best Otop Exporter for the year of 2548.
